INFLATABLES

Inflatables is a duet between dance and circus, a new beginning where curiosity arises. Two huge inflatable objects represent the source from where the artists emerge. When they appear, they come together to play and care for each other; they fight, they forgive and they move on, mirroring one another to understand themselves better.

BAOBA

A Dance Performance by Cintia Rangel The performance is inspired by one of the many legends surrounding the Baobab tree, a millennial tree of African origin. Present in countries such as Angola, Tanzania, Senegal, and Brazil, the Baoba is considered sacred in many cultures and religions. The tree is revered for its grandeur and longevity, as well as being a symbol of African resilience in difficult times. It is believed that by embracing a Baobab tree, one can hear its stories and accumulated teachings.

BANZO – Dance Workshop

Banzo was the word used to describe the profound sadness that enslaved individuals felt upon arriving in Brazil, after being abducted from the African continent. It represented an eternal and deep melancholy caused by the distance from their homeland, culture, and identity. However, nowadays, Banzo can also be understood as an internal calling to reconstruct and strengthen cultural identity and the connection with ancestry. It is an invitation to explore and value the history, customs, traditions, and knowledge passed down by ancestors. It is an awakening to the importance of preserving cultural heritage and reaffirming one's own identity in the face of past influences and oppression.

BODY, ILY (Body, Mind, Soul-Connection Dance Workshop)

Body, ILY is a dance and movement workshop offered by Sharon Jamila Hutchinson (Mila) German-Jamaican artist who creates and co-creates processes and productions at the intersection of choreography, videography, film, dramaturgy, and performance. BODY, ILY is an invitation to recalibrate one's own relationship with the body while going with the rhythm of the sun; learn about the ways our bodies work on an anatomical level and explore new playful ways to express ourselves creatively through movement, dance, text, drawing and music.
